BCB offers two distinct programs designed to meet the needs of your family and dancer!
Our school is divided into a Recreational Program and a Concentrated Studies program.
Dancers of a certain level and age are also invited to audition into our Brass City Ballet Company.
Recreational Program
Our Recreational Program is designed to suit the young dancers who is looking for an after school activity without the long-term commitment. The recreational program has the same teachers, classes, and level of superior training without the pressure of every-day classes and performance requirements. These classes typically are offered as a once-per-week option, with the opportunity to level up and join the concentrated studies program when the student is both age appropriate and their technique has advanced enough.
Concentrated Studies Program
The Concentrated Studies program is for the dancer who is ready and interested in a more rigorous training schedule. This program includes added performance opportunities, as well as commitments. Dancers in this program are given the privilege of advancing through levels A – E as their technique progresses, as well as taking part in our Buddy Program which is a mentorship-style connection between our youngest and oldest students. Concentrated Studies dancers make the commitment of dancing with us for a required number of days per week, which corresponds to their level, and to being a helpful, respectful, and kind member of our Brass City Ballet community. Concentrated Studies dancers are also given the opportunity to apply for our Margery Hall Fisk Scholarship Fund to help cover the cost of classes.
An important feature of quality dance education is performance. All Brass City Ballet students, regard-
less of age, have an opportunity to perform in the year-end Season Finale, while audition ages for The Nutcracker and Gala are ages 5 & up.
BRASS CITY BALLET COMPANY
Students who are part of the Brass City Ballet Company, are given additional opportunities to perform throughout the year. Brass City Ballet Company’s main event is the Gala when student dancers have the privilege of working with guest artists and performing new and original works with resident and visiting choreographers.
Brass City Ballet Company dancers pay an additional fee to participate in the company as the hours of rehearsal and performance are considered an extension of their existing dance education. BCB Company dancers are not required to audition for The Nutcracker or Gala and are exempt from fees for both productions. In addition to their regular class schedule, BCB Company members attend their own company class separate from the other levels. BCB Company members receive a progress report at the end of the year.
